What are Ending Blends?
Ending blends are sounds that “blend” together to form a sound although children are able to stretch out the sound to hear both letters. You might also hear these letter combinations referred to as consonant clusters.
For these pages, I focused on blends containing T, L and N. Each blend found in these pages has two letters.
The blends include the following: ct, ft, pt, xt, lb, ld, lf, lk, lm, lp, lt, mp, nd, nk and nt.

Practice with Ending Blend Words
Looking for a way to practice these ending blend words before using paper and pencil? You might start by encouraging your children to go on a word hunt in a favorite book.
Each child can pick a favorite story and you can make a list of the words you find.
This will be an easy activity to add to a phonics lesson during a virtual class meetings.
