If you do not know, ending digraph words end with two letters that make a new sound. The words in these pages end with ch, sh, th, dge, ck, tch or ng. Yes, some of the words actually end in trigraphs instead of digraphs. These are groups of three letters that make one new sound.

Practice with Ending Digraph Words

Looking for a way to practice these ending digraph words before using paper and pencil? You might start by encouraging your children search for words with ending digraphs in their favorite book.

Each child can pick a favorite story and you can make a list of the ending digraph words you find. For a challenge, students can also search for words with digraphs in the beginning, middle or the end of words.
