Space Roots, Prefixes, & Suffixes Set
Introduce your study of space with this space roots, prefixes, and suffixes collection for 5th – 8th grade students.
This is another free resource for teachers and homeschool families from www.freewordwork.com.

Using these pages
You will find two options for the charts. You can choose to print the roots and prefixes pages on full pages or half pages. I found that students filled the smaller pages for these two throughout our study of space. I now wish they had more space! I added in the full page options because of this.
I copied the charts on seperate pages, I wanted students to be able to cut out and glue them in their notebooks when we finished. If you will not be doing this, you might choose to print front to back.
In my classroom, we used these charts for word work time over a few days.
I found that there were many word parts students were not familiar with. For this reason, it worked well to do this as a whole group activity.
I gave students a root, prefix, or suffix. If students were familiar with the meaning, I had them share. If not, I would give an example word. Many times, students could then determine the meaning.
After completing the charts, students added them to their science notebooks.
