Little Children Reading Story Books
You can download these free vowel sound search bookmarks to help your children work on phonics sounds during independent reading.
This free reading download is designed to help your children receive more practice with phonics skills you are currently working on in the classroom.
Children will have the opportunity to search for long and short vowel sounds.
There is one bookmark where students will find vowel team and magic e words.
I’ve also included two pages you can use to create your own. Simply write in the vowel sounds before copying.
For example, you might add short a to the top box and short i to the bottom box.
There is also a page that will allow children to focus on three sounds.
Begin by choosing the bookmark to fit your current focus.
After printing, cut apart the bookmarks.
Before having student work independently on this task, you will want to model how to fill in the bookmarks.
You might be able to model with just one vowel sound for some classrooms. For others, they might benefit from modeling multiple times.
Since these are smaller, for modeling it might work better to enlarge one bookmark so that students can see as you demonstrate the task.
If you will be using one of the blank ones I have provided, you can provide these in two different ways. You might choose to write in the task before copying. Or, if you will be differentiating based on students, tell students what to write in before they begin.
