This is another free resource for teachers and homeschool families.
I originally designed a set of five sentences to help me work with a small group of my sixth grade students. I wrote the sentences to include geography facts with sentence structure practice.
As I worked with my group last week, I had others in my class begging to join.
That night I worked to create five more sentences, making sure some were a little more challenging. My students love puzzles of all sorts so this fit that need for them.
The next day at school children were begging to work on the new sentences. This is definitely not an activity I was thinking of for my whole class. However, since it is such high interest, I’m playing around to find ways to make some work that will be a little more challenging for some of my strong readers.
To create my center, I began by printing each page on a different color of card stock.
I then laminated the pages and cut them apart.
I began by giving my students in my group a simpler sentence and then they worked on a more challenging one.
When writing the sentences, I made sure each sentence included facts I wanted to cover in social studies.
After my students I originally designed the work for have had a couple of days of practice, I plan on placing them in a pocket chart. Since others are also interested, it will be a good morning entry choice that can be calm and meaningful.
