Homophone Practice

Use these pages to provide students with homophone practice in the classroom.

This free download will provide students with homophone practice.

These pages can be used with any list of words.

This is another free resource for teachers and homeschool families from www.freewordwork.com.

What are homophones?

Homophones are words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings.

These words can be difficult for students to master because it requires them to memorize the spelling differences.

Even in my sixth grade classroom, we are constantly reviewing how to correctly use their, they’re, and there. To, too, and two are another trio that can be challenging.

One tip that has helped is having students draw a picture to go with each spelling.

Using these homophone practice printables

These homophone printables are created to use with any set of words you are practicing.

You can have students complete a single page and place it in their word work notebooks as a reference.

Or, have students create a dictionary for the homophones you are focusing on.

Having a resource to refer back to can be helpful when they are writing.

I have been encouraging my own students to check instead of asking me for help each time.
